David Johnson (#4802)

David is a self taught artist which gives him a distinctive style. He was born in 1958 in Kwa-Zulu Natal and started painting in 1987. In 1993 he commenced his career as a professional artist, working mainly in pastel. He has the ability to handle any subject matter but is well known for his dry riverbed studies. David has also enjoyed great success with private commissions such as farmsteads. David’s work appeared in Swan Publishers Landscape Calendar 1993 and 1994 and the Swan Publishers Wildlife Desk pad in 1995. His works grace homes throughout South Africa, USA, Malawi, England, Canada, Australia, Germany and Indonesia. Johnson is truly one of the top bushveld landscape artists in Africa. His art has an exceptional realistic feel to it and draws you into his scenes, creating a ‘Deja Vu’ feeling for the viewer who often remarks: “I’ve been there!”
